Milender White is an award winning Colorado-based general contractor providing comprehensive pre-construction and construction management services. Tribal One is a lower 48 Tribal firm with specialized skill in telecommunications and construction and with 8(a) designation. Tah Yas (also an 8(a) designated firm) is a joint venture between Tribal One and Milender White with a mission to provide excellent construction for Federal and other clients.

The purpose of the Area Superintendent is to manage all aspects of coordination and completion of smaller construction projects (under $8m), or assigned area(s) within a larger ($8m - $20m) construction project. Working under the guidance of the Project or General Superintendent, the area superintendent will participate in communications with owners, architects, designers, sub-contractors, etc. with regards to project cost, staffing, quality and scheduling.

This role is specifically to serve as an Area Superintendent for Tah-Yas, a joint venture entity that is focused on government contracts. This job will require travel dependent on the locations of the work being performed. Recent projects have been in Colorado, Wyoming, and Oregon.

Key Measurable Results For Assigned Area(s) Include:

Safety

  • Champion all aspects of day to day safety on the project
  • Ensure 100% compliance with company safety requirements for all stakeholders, to support and achieve zero injuries or incidents
  • Job Hazard Analysis / Safety Task Assignment reviews encompassing subcontractor and self-work projects
  • Perform jobsite safety audits and “Safety Training Observation Program” (STOP) card observations

Schedule

  • Develop, update and maintain project Critical Path Method schedule
  • Work with all stakeholders to understand schedule changes. Plan and communicate course corrections
  • Hold subcontractors accountable to established schedules
  • Measure and report on projected vs. actual baseline schedule throughout project

Quality Control

  • In conjunction with Project Superintendent, ultimate responsibility for overall Quality Control on the project.
  • Manager the Deficiency List process to ensure visibility and close tracking of items on a routine basis to minimize Punch List items at project closeout.
  • Ensure everyone knows about project changes and their implementation
  • Maintain a clean and safe physical environment

Financial Management

  • Working through project leadership, holds financial monitoring and reporting responsibilities
  • Manage the labor recap process, to include management reporting of labor and supervision costs
  • Close review of project personnel time cards to ensure accuracy and appropriate job charging
  • Manage processing of Purchase Orders, and subsequent comparisons to budgets

Staff Development

  • Help develop project staff by teaching construction practices and techniques
  • Working with project leadership ensure project personnel are adequately trained and accountable in their functions
  • Have some fun


Experience and Ability

  • 5+ years specific field experience
  • A passion for construction with a natural instinct to build
  • Familiar with a variety of construction concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to confront difficult situations and manage them to a successful conclusion
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Preferred experience working with government contracts
  • Preferred experience in the superintendence of government construction projects
  • Preferred experience in military construction (including USACE and NAVFAC projects)
  • Preferred experience with MATOC and Task Order projects
